I installed Photoshop cc on Windows 8.1. The customer service support is helpful but frustrating at times. I hope it grows along with Photoshop. I found the latest version a bit slow to install but once everything is installed, it runs very well. I’ve been using Photoshop for a while but usually using a Mac. I’ve just about completely changed to run Photoshop on Windows machine with the dongle. I have no problem using the latest Windows version.

If you’re running a Mac or Windows system, there’s no reason to ever pay the Pro version. The basic features are certainly enough for most. Photoshop Elements is a recommended suggestion for beginners.

Other than that, it’s purely a glorified photo editor. After using InDesign and Apple Pages extensively, I’ve grown to enjoy the workflow of Photoshop for that reason. It’s useful for simple edits, but I don’t think it’s the right editor for more complex designs.

The major performance issue for me was that this app was taking up a lot of RAM. So I deleted all the existing Photoshop files in the system to start up manually. I found that deleting old history entries and editor preferences were the best solutions for the problem.

Back in 2002, Adobe released a tool for manipulating images called Illustrator. The problem is that it was a terrible vector-based drawing app. You couldn’t make text in it. It was terrible at text-based image manipulation.

Plus, the vector editor isn’t powerful enough. With Photoshop, you can blur at any size. And you can manually control which direction it blurs on. Photoshop Elements is an inferior app, but it does a truly terrible job of editing vectors. It’s awful.

Graphic design software in the early days was hard to use. Technology has come a long way, and software is now intuitive and helps a user express creativity more freely. Selecting the right platform would depend on your work and what you want to achieve with the software.

In another of the Elements’ secret strokes, it makes RAW photo processing and editing as simple as possible. For this reason, I’ve called it the best photo editor for neophytes. RAW processing is not a simple task, and the payoffs can be significant. But Elements makes the process pretty accessible.
