Awesome-duplicate-photo-finder-1.0.1

In the screenshot above, you can see that you can choose from six different duplicate rules. When a photo is found as a duplicate, the Finder indicates which rule is applicable. You’ll notice that a bunch of duplicate rules are stuck off to the right of the rule list if they don’t apply. A rule that is stuck off to the right of the list means that it’ll never be chosen as a keeper, so you can safely ignore it. Also, the rules aren’t checked in order. For instance, if you first find the rule that says to update all favorites, then find the rule that says let’s keep the most recent photo, you’ll be in a spot of trouble. PowerPhotos will always pick the photo in the middle, but that is the rule that would be applied last. However, the order in which you define your duplicate rules is irrelevant, so you can rearrange them how you like and it won’t matter.

In the screenshot above, you can also see that you have 7 main (or Source) libraries listed, but only 4 (Destination) libraries. This is easy to correct. Simply drag a library from the Source list onto the Destination list and click the Import Photos button at the top again. If you’re done, select Import Duplicates from the Utilities pane at the top and click OK. This will cause all of the duplicate photos that you intended to be kept will be moved to the Source libraries.

A photo that has been moved into a Source library is highlighted in the Destination library. Photos will automatically create a new placeholder library for each Source library, in the format of /. When you import from a Source library, that photo will be placed into the placeholder of that Source library.

PowerPhotos will also merge duplicate photos from the same spot. If you drag a duplicate photo into PowerPhotos, it will automatically ask for a merge. You can choose the new photo that you want to use to override the original. When PowerPhotos finds duplicate photos from the same spot, it will merge all of them together and display only the newest version in the library. As a result, if you drag duplicate photos of the same spot out of the Finder window and into PowerPhotos, they will all be merged into a single library.
